The Italian GP kicks off with the leading role of Aprilia, the factory that has grown the most in MotoGP in recent times. Noale’s house has taken advantage of the home appointment, in Mugello, to announce the renewal for the next two years of its two current riders, Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales, who have been “very happy” at the press conference in the that the announcement has been made.
Together with the two Spanish riders were Massimo Rivola, who is the CEO of Aprilia Racing, and Romano Albesiano, the factory leader at a technical level, and all of them highlighted the excellent atmosphere in the box and did not hesitate to define how “family” the team that they all make up.
The excellent results that Aleix has been signing this season have undoubtedly contributed to this good atmosphere, with four podiums so far in the championship, including a victory, that of Argentina, starting from pole. All this allows him to go second overall, just three points behind the leader, Fabio Quartararo, the same one he knew how to contain in the previous race, Le Mans, to be the one who climbed to the third step of the podium and not the French.
The agreement between Aleix and Aprilia was completely expected and did not take place before due to economic issues that have finally been saved. In the case of Maverick, on the other hand, the renewal may be somewhat surprising, because his results so far have not lived up to what is expected of him. However, Mack is very comfortable in the Aprilia box and Rivola has infinite faith in him.
With the renewals of these riders, there are already six who have defined their future for next season: Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda), Brad Binder (KTM), Francesco Bagnai (Lenovo Ducati), Morbidelli (Yamaha, but it remains to be seen in what team), Aleix and Maverick (Aprilia). The future of the rest of the grid remains to be decided, and it is especially interesting to know what will happen to Mir and Rins, who have been left without a bike due to the shock of Suzuki from MotoGP.
