I remember that Mark Gurman himself advanced, in April of this year, with the possibility of Apple including a body temperature sensor in the Apple Watch Series 8. Now, after several successful internal tests, everything seems to be heading towards its inclusion in the Apple Watch. the Apple Watch Series 8 product will be introduced in September.

This novelty related to the user’s health will be transversal to all the versions of the new generation of this popular smart watch. As Mark Gurman points out, it will be an integral part of the regular Apple Watch Series 8 and its rugged version.

A statement that ends up also confirming that Apple will even launch a more resistant edition of its watch. It is a version “designed for extreme sports athletes” with a greater possibility of exposure to extreme conditions.

The body temperature sensor will not show specific values

Scrutinizing the matter a little more, Mark Gurman exposes the basic concepts of the operation of the new temperature sensor of the Apple Watch Series 8. According to him, this will not serve as a substitute for your conventional thermometer.

The temperature sensor present in the Apple watch will only reveal whether or not it believes the user has a fever. That is, we will not have concrete temperature measurements, but only estimates.

In this sense, the Apple Watch Series 8 will recommend the user the use of a traditional thermometer to make a more precise measurement and that can be used for medical purposes. It will therefore be a new barometer for the user about their general health status.

I also leave a note for the absence of health-related sensors on the AirPods Pro 2. Contrary to various rumors, Gurman says that these headphones will not come with the much-talked-about heart rate or temperature sensor.
