Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro Tops European Sales in March 2025

Smartphones are flying off the shelves in Europe. The latest report from Counterpoint Research shows that Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max are the top-selling phones on the continent. They’re followed closely by the standard iPhone 16 and Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra.

These four phones are the crème de la crème of the smartphone world. But what’s interesting is that the iPhone 16 series, which was released in September 2024, is still outselling the newer Galaxy S25 series, which came out in February 2025. You’d think the newer phones would be more popular, but that’s not the case.

Sales Figures

The numbers tell the story. The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max are the clear winners, with the standard iPhone 16 coming in third. The Galaxy S25 Ultra and standard Galaxy S25 round out the top five.

Here’s how the rest of the top 10 shapes up:

  • Samsung Galaxy S24 (last year’s flagship)
  • Samsung Galaxy A55 5G (a mid-range phone)
  • Samsung Galaxy A16 5G (another mid-range option)
  • iPhone 16e (Apple’s budget-friendly option)

The iPhone 16e, in particular, is worth noting. It’s a more affordable version of the iPhone 16, but it’s not selling as well as Apple’s previous budget phones, like the iPhone SE (2020) and iPhone SE (2022).

Samsung’s Struggles

Samsung’s not having the best quarter, though. The company’s smartphone sales in Europe dropped 2% in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same time last year. Apple, on the other hand, saw its sales rise 2%.

Still, Samsung remains the top dog in the European smartphone market, thanks to its popular mid-range phones like the Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A16 5G.
