Apple's first foldable device could be closer than ever

Foldable smartphones are not exactly a new phenomenon in the industry, with many manufacturers – such as Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, Motorola and OnePlus – already offering several models.

However, there is one notable absence from this list: Manzana. The Apple company is known for taking its time introducing new technologies and currently there is no sign that we will see a foldable iPhone in the near term.

Well, according to a report from Patently Apple, Apple has reached out to some Taiwanese manufacturers and asked for samples of their technology for analysis. While this doesn't necessarily mean Apple will release a foldable device, it is important that it is testing prototypes.

We also cannot rule out the possibility that this is not a foldable iPhone, but a different type of device. A while ago we heard that Apple might launch a foldable iPad that would offer a large screen in a compact form factor. Maybe this is the surprise that Apple is preparing for the future.
