Apple will implement USB-C in AirPods Pro from 2023

The transition of Apple products to USB-C has been a recurring theme, and everything indicates that this will happen with the launch of the iPhone 15. At the same time, the American technology should follow suit with its AirPods Pro headphones.

Mark Gurman laid out his belief in this happening in this week’s edition of the Power On report. In the document, the Bloomberg journalist expects Apple to introduce a new box for the AirPods Pro when the iPhone 15 is introduced.

AirPods Pro will receive a new box with USB-C input

The era of the Lightning port on Apple headphones is expected to end in September of this year. There, the technology giant should present a renewed case for the AirPods Pro, now with a USB-C input.

The details of this transition are not yet clear, that is, if it will be a new box that users will be able to buy separately. Or if, instead, they will be forced to buy a new pair of AirPods Pro just to benefit from the standardization that USB-C makes possible.

The truth is that this possibility is not mentioned now for the first time. Last March, the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also advanced with the existence of a new box for AirPods Pro with USB-C input.

Apparently, this will be the only change that Apple will bring in 2023 to its high-end wireless headphones. None of the mentioned analysts is moving forward with other changes to this product, be it cosmetic or functional.

AirPods will have a greater focus on the health of its users

The same report produced over the weekend by Mark Gurman reveals how AirPods can be an active part in monitoring the health of their users. One of the novelties will be the possibility of testing the hearing level of each user.

To that end, Apple’s headphones “play different tones and sounds to allow AirPods to determine how well a person can hear.” The reliability rate of these measurements will be important in assessing whether this novelty is launched effectively.

AirPods will also be able to measure the user’s body temperature through their ear canal. It is believed that this may be a more effective method than the measurements made on the skin by the Apple Watch.

It is important to underline that the news presented in this article are only rumors. Apple has not yet confirmed anything indicated by Mark Gurman, but surely they will be very interesting additions.
