One of the best-kept secrets within Cupertino’s technology is its supposedly autonomous electric car, already dubbed Apple Car by the press. Without ever having recognized the existence of such a project, it is certain that news and updates continue to reach the Internet, as the publication now points out. 9to5Mac.
According to a new article in the aforementioned publication, the Cupertino giant will meet with several South Korean manufacturers, with Apple Car being the main topic on the agenda. As for the car itself, as of yet there is no public data that we can rely on to describe it. However, the consensus suggests the development of an autonomous electric vehicle.
Apple will be in talks with South Korean manufacturers
Citing several experts close to the South Korean auto industry as a source, the Cupertino tech company will have sent representatives to visit the country. They did it to know the existing infrastructures and look for possible associations in order to build the supposed Apple Car.
The Apple Car is possibly Apple’s most ambitious project
In short, Apple is looking for partners in South Korea to work with to perfect and produce its first autonomous electric vehicle. As the source mentions, the interest in technology was mainly in electric vehicles, as well as their respective specificities and vicissitudes.
The autonomous electric car project remains shrouded in secrecy
By now, Apple will have established contact with LG, SK and Hanwha. However, the negotiation with these parties will not have progressed beyond the initial contact.
More recently, reports emerged of negotiations between Apple and several automakers with strong reputations and market history. These include Hyundai / Kia, Nissan, BMW, as well as start up Canoo.
We also recall the reports that pointed to the establishment of an agreement and partnership between Hyundai and its Kia, reports that would be refuted by Tim Cook’s company.
So far there will not be one (or more) partnerships defined by the Cupertino technology company. Most likely, Apple is researching as many entities as possible to find the one that best meets your needs and requirements.
Apple will also have reportedly met with SK Innovation, an entity dedicated to the production of batteries for electric vehicles. Likewise, he will also have met with LG Electronics, but in both cases it is practically impossible to confirm the veracity of these reports.
