Apple Unveils iOS 26.2 Beta with Emergency Disaster Alerts

Apple’s latest iOS 26.2 beta introduces enhanced security alerts designed to notify users of emergencies and offers new customization options for several core applications.

The most significant feature unveiled is an improved system for security alerts, which will deliver notifications directly to iPhones and Apple Watches. These alerts are intended to inform users about critical situations, such as earthquakes or floods.

The system utilizes various connection methods, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular data, to ensure timely delivery of emergency information. This safety feature was initially introduced in the first beta release of iOS 26.2.

Beyond emergency notifications, the beta update also brings user interface adjustments and new functionalities. The Measure application now features a “Liquid Glass” interface for its leveling tool, displaying two distinct bubbles instead of the previous white circles.

The Games application has expanded its sorting capabilities. Users can now organize their game titles by size, in addition to the existing options of sorting by name and recent activity.

CarPlay has received updates that allow users to disable pinned conversations within the Messages application. Furthermore, the animation for pressing a button in a corner of the CarPlay screen has been refined, offering a quicker response and a slight “bounce” effect reminiscent of Apple’s demonstrations at WWDC 2025.

The iOS 26.2 beta also adds support for cards in several countries, though specific regions were not detailed.
