Apple Unveils AirPods with High-Quality Audio Recording and Remote Camera Control

Apple just dropped some big news at WWDC 2025. The company showed off a new design called “Liquid Glass” that will be used across its operating systems. But what really caught my attention was the update to AirPods.

The new AirPods 4, AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation, and AirPods Pro 2 have some exciting features. You can now record high-quality audio directly from your AirPods. This is huge for content creators like podcasters, interviewers, or musicians. The audio quality is professional-grade, even in noisy environments, thanks to the voice isolation feature.

What’s new with AirPods

  • Record high-quality audio with your AirPods. This works well for:
    • Interviews
    • Podcasting
    • Music recording
  • Control your iPhone or iPad camera remotely with your AirPods. Just press and hold the sensor to take a photo or start recording. Repeat the gesture to stop recording. This is perfect for:
    • Filming yourself singing or dancing
    • Creating content alone

These features are made possible by the H2 chip, directional microphones, and computational audio. They work with iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and are compatible with various apps like FaceTime, Voice Memos, and video conferencing apps.

Developers can get their hands on the new features through the Apple Developer Program. The public beta will be available next month through the Apple Beta Software Program. The official release is set for this fall, along with iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26.
