While Apple fans are eagerly waiting for the 16″ inch MacBook Pro, talk is already started to come about the next-generation MacBook Air. The first rumors come from the leaker Dylan, aka @dylandkt on Twitter.
According to his sources, Apple is preparing a renewal of this notebook line for next year. But the big news for the next generation of MacBook Air will be its M2 processor.
The announcement of this new notebook is expected to take place in the first half of 2022. It will be a great way to start the year for Apple, following the expected announcement of the new 16″ inch MacBook Pro at the end of 2021.
The big surprise for the new MacBook Air will be a new processor called M2. It will be an improved version of the M1 found on the MacBook Air currently in stores and which gives it impressive performance.
What will distinguish these two processors will be the number of cores available for graphics tasks. M2 should offer nine or ten cores allocated to this task, unlike the eight in the current model.
It is also specified by the source that the new MacBook Air will be “colorful”. It’s an indication that Apple could follow the path traced with the new iMac, available in multiple colors.
The same source also points to the fate of the so-called M1X. This new processor will be exclusive to the new 16-inch MacBook Pro and the revamped Mac Mini. The products are expected to be launched in the fall.
This processor will be more powerful than the M2 which should integrate the MacBook Air next year. In the M1X, Apple plans to include ten processing cores, offering a performance improvement over the M1 that powers the 13-inch MacBook Pro.
