Parallel to the presentation of Apple, it has finally renewed its most affordable computer. I’m talking about the Mac Mini, now with updated internals to accommodate the new M2 and M2 Pro inside.
In addition to the inclusion of the latest generation processors, the other great novelty of this Mac Mini is its retail price. The base version of this product now starts at the €729.
New Mac Mini brings versions with M2 or M2 Pro processors
The overall design of the new Mac Mini will not be unfamiliar to anyone familiar with this range of products. We have the traditional square box with metal construction that you can place near your monitor and peripherals.
As such, Apple has primarily focused its attention on the interior of the new generation Mac Mini. This now comes with new generation processors, strictly speaking the M2 and M2 Pro.
The latter thus satisfies the requests of the most demanding users who asked for a more powerful version of this compact computer. More casual users will still have a base version available with the M2.
New is the M2 Pro, also officially unveiled today. In short, this SoC offers up to 10 CPU cores and up to 19 GPU cores; guaranteeing a performance increase of 20% and 30%, respectively, compared to the M1 Pro.
A product with a wide variety of ports
Mac Mini is designed to be the brain of your setup. So it’s only natural that this device features a wide range of ports so you can connect your monitor, mouse, keyboard, and other essential peripherals.
For this reason, the new Mac Mini comes with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A, one HDMI, one Ethernet and a 3.5 mm jack. Those who opt for the M2 Pro processor version will benefit from two more Thunderbolt 4 ports.
When it comes to wireless connections, we support the Wi-Fi 6E standard for faster Internet connection. Also highlight the presence of Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, ideal for those who have peripherals compatible with this connection.
Price and availability
As already mentioned, this is the most affordable Mac Mini that Apple has ever made available. In fact, the version with the M2 processor will have a starting price of €729. If you opt for the version with M2 Pro, this product will have a starting price of €1,579.
Like the other products revealed by Apple today, orders can now be submitted on its official page. Presentations will begin on January 24.
With this introduction, Apple has discontinued previous versions of the Mac Mini, including the Intel-based version. It also means that the only American computer still available with an Intel processor is the Mac Pro, which will also be updated soon.
