Apple Releases AirPods Beta Firmware: Real-Time Translation, Direct Updates

Apple has expanded its public beta testing program for several AirPods models, rolling out new firmware that introduces real-time translation support for additional languages.

The new beta firmware, with build number 8B5014c, is now available to users enrolled in Apple’s public testing initiative. This follows its initial release to developers last week.

The update applies to the AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, and AirPods 4. Its release coincides with the new public beta for iOS 26.1.

This firmware is expected to add support for real-time translation in languages including Japanese, Korean, Italian, and both traditional and simplified Mandarin Chinese. Portuguese language support is not yet available.

Apple previously simplified the beta firmware installation process with iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe. Users can now install these updates directly through their AirPods’ settings when connected to a compatible Apple device.

Participants interested in the public beta program can activate the beta firmware option after registering on Apple’s official website.
