This Monday Apple promoted the Unleashed event, where the new third-generation MacBook Pro and AirPods were presented. And the manufacturer took the opportunity to also put on sale a product with a minimally absurd price.
The cleaning cloth that the manufacturer puts in the box of those who buy their Pro Display XDR monitor can now be purchased separately. But to the dismay of many, this is for sale on Apple’s website for € 25.
“The cleaning cloth is made with a soft and non-abrasive material, and is ideal for cleaning the screen of any Apple device, including nanotexture glass, safely and effectively”, is the product description on the official website .
The cleaning cloth is not “compatible” with all iPhones.
Apple goes even further by releasing a list of computers compatible with this cleaning cloth, for Mac, iPad and iPhone. Interestingly, only since the iPhone 6 does it seem safe to use this cleaning cloth.
Considering the price of the cleaning cloth and the compatibility list, the product has become a meme on social media. One user wrote “You can’t innovate anymore, ass!”, Poking fun at the move.
Another user also pointed out that the 4th generation iPod Shuffle is on supported devices. Please note this is a screenless device.
At heart, it is Apple being Apple. Buying a good microfiber cloth is something you can do on any commercial surface. But many cracked apple fans will definitely invest in this fabric as it is from Apple.
