Apple plans Remove the blood oxygen level reading function on their latest Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 are threatening to ban the sale of these models if they are unsuccessful in their appeal against the decision.
The plan was shared by Masimo, which is embroiled in a legal battle with Apple over patents related to the technology. US Customs and Border Protection reportedly approved the measure on January 12th.
This step would enable Apple We continue to sell these Apple Watch models in the US — the other countries are not affected by the sales ban — However, without the oxygen measurement function.
This measure will logically only take place if Apple is not allowed to keep the Apple Watch with all functions on sale for the duration of the test period.
Currently, new Apple Watch devices with blood oxygen measurement functionality continue to be sold. However, it appears that AApple has started shipping modified Series 9 and Ultra 2 units without the functionality to stores in the US. Stores are instructed not to open or sell the devices until they receive the order from Cupertino.
Apple was already forced to stop selling the Apple Watch just before Christmas, but a temporary suspension allowed the company to start selling the products again late last month.
