Apple is launching a highly desired feature on AirPods. But there is a catch

iOS 15 is coming to Apple smartphone users this fall. But it will not be only for the iPhone that it will bring news. Also the brand’s headphones, the popular AirPods, will be entitled to big improvements.

For the first time, AirPods will receive support for Find My. This means that they can be found with the precision of an AirTag or other branded product with this holder.

From iOS 15, as mentioned by 9to5Google, you will be able to connect your AirPods to your Apple ID, making your search easier. Bluetooth will be used so that when you are around you can easily find them too.

Only AirPods Pro and AirPods Max will support the Find My network

It should be noted that this feature will only be available for AirPods Pro and AirPods Max models. This means that they can be found even if they are far from your iPhone or iPad through the aforementioned network.

These will then use the location of other nearby Apple devices to send you their exact location. And even in the event of theft and use by other computers, you will still know its location.

Unfortunately, this is not yet where AirPods Pro / Max will have activation lock. This means that even if you know their location, you have no way of preventing others from using them at a distance.

This feature, along with Conversation Boost, is still in the testing phase and will arrive in a future firmware release for these products. As mentioned above, first and second generation AirPods are not entitled to these new features.
