One of the most interesting rumors about the future of the iPhone is a model with a seamless display. This will only be achieved when Apple brings together the technology to embed Face ID and the front-facing camera on the screen.
Many sources tell us that this will still take several years to achieve, but there is a reliable source that gives us something more concrete. According to analyst Ross Young, only in 2027 will we see the first full-screen iPhone.
The iPhone 19 Pro will be the first Apple smartphone without screen interruptions
Ross Young is the CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, an entity with in-depth knowledge of the display market. It is, therefore, one of the most reliable sources to gauge what the future holds for the Apple iPhone screen.
He recently released a calendar for the future of the iPhone, speaking strictly of Apple’s plans for the next few years. And as revealed, only in 2027 will we see the first equipment with all the technologies integrated into the screen.
Indeed, it will be with the presentation of the iPhone 19 Pro and iPhone 19 Ultra when Apple launches something similar to the interior screen of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4. In other words, a panel devoid of Dynamic Island or any other interruption for Face ID or front camera.
This change will not be radical, that is, there will be a progressive evolution until reaching the most desired design in any smartphone. But it will not be with the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro when this evolution begins.
The first big step will happen with the launch of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Ultra in 2025. These will be the first Apple smartphones to feature Face ID built into the screen and a small hole for the front camera.
That same year will see the next big evolution in the base models of the iPhone. In fact, it will be with the launch of the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Plus that Apple will finally put a 120Hz refresh rate on the base models.
In 2026, that is, with the iPhone 18 generation, there will be no news in both segments. However, in the iPhone 19 generation we will see a full screen on the Pro and Ultra models, while the base models will inherit in-display Face ID and a Drilling for the front camera.
Following the conclusion of this dispute, Apple’s next vector of evolution could be the removal of all ports on the iPhone. However, we don’t have a schedule for that yet.
