As rumors predicted, today Apple lifted the veil on its new generation of MacBook Pro laptops. Indeed, we have the renewal of the 14 “and 16” offerings, where the main novelty of both models lies in their new processors.

The new MacBook Pro 14 “and 16” bring news only inside
As expected, Apple’s new professional laptops are identical to the models revealed at the end of 2021. We have the same metal construction, the same screen with reduced margins and the notch, as well as the rest of the aesthetic features of its predecessors.
In fact, they are based on a design philosophy that has renewed this line of Apple products and that has received good reviews in the market. As they say in the popular slang, the team that wins does not move.
This means that the news of the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro are inside. Highlighting its new M2 Pro and M2 Max processors, but we have other news in the connectivity segment of these models.
M2 Pro and M2 Max are Apple’s best processors
The highlight, of course, are the new Apple Silicon processors. Following the reveal of the M2 last June, we now know of its Pro and Max variants, intended for the company’s most advanced products.
Both potato chips they are built on 5nm lithography and, according to Apple, provide the best performance/efficiency ratio ever achieved by Apple. Thanks to them, the new MacBook Pros have up to 22 hours of autonomy, the highest value ever seen in this range.
Looking at the M2 Pro first, it arrives with versions of 10 or 12 CPU cores and up to 19 GPU cores. The result is a 20% increase in CPU and 30% GPU performance compared to the M1 Pro.
It’s also important to note that the M2 Pro supports up to 32GB of unified memory, commonly known as RAM. Added to this we have a bandwidth that reaches 200 GB/s.
Moving on to the M2 Max, it will be available in configurations with 12 CPU cores and up to 38 GPU cores. Also here we have performance jumps of 20% and 30%, respectively.
This being Apple’s most advanced processor, the unified memory ceiling reaches 96 GB. Your bandwidth is encrypted at 400 GB/s.
More and better connectivity in the new MacBook Pro
Apple has also decided to improve the connectivity chapter of the new MacBook Pro with improvements in some key aspects. We have, for example, the introduction of an HDMI 2.1 port that will support 8K monitors up to 60 fps or 4K up to 240 Hz.
For the first time, we have support for Wi-Fi 6E networks which Apple says will enable twice as fast connection speeds. It should also be noted that their storage schemes start from 512 GB and can reach 8 TB.
Price and availability
The new 14″ MacBook Pro with M2 Pro processor arrives in Portugal from €2,499 for the 10-core version or €3,099 for the 12-core version. Its version with M2 Max starts at €3,799.
The 16″ MacBook Pro will be available in our country from €3,099 in its respective base version. If you want the version with the highest number of GPU cores (32) you will have to pay €4,249.
The order phase for the new Apple laptops has already begun on the company’s official website. Regular sales for the new MacBook Pro begin on January 24.
