Apple will finally let third-party apps take advantage of screens to 120Hz to deliver smoother, more fluid animations. Until then, this possibility was reserved for the company’s own applications and services in its AppleiPhone.
At stake are the 120 Hz ProMotion screens present in Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, the current top models. This will be the component that developers will now be able to take full advantage of and deliver a superior experience to users.
Smoother animations on the way to Apple iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max
Until now, animations and transitions in non-Apple-developed apps are limited to displaying at 60Hz, the conventional display refresh rate. This situation was justified by Apple with a problem in Core Animation, with a bug which did not allow to open this possibility to the programmers.
Fortunately, according to Apple itself, the situation has now been corrected with iOS 15.4, leaving the bug Resolved. This means that starting with this software build, the beta version of which has been available since yesterday, developers will have one more tool at their disposal.
It should also be noted that this development was first spotted and reported by the publication MacRumors, enthusiastically received by several programmers. That is, from Facebook and other social networks, as well as practically all iOS applications, they will now be able to present a Travel more fluid
The full potential of 120Hz ProMotion displays is now available to developers
Support for 120Hz animations will allow today’s high-end iPhones to deliver significantly smoother images and animations in your presentation. This will be especially noticeable in games and when swiping and Travel in the most diverse applications for iOS.
On the other hand, Android users have been able to take advantage of this “luxury” for quite some time, with the feature available on the most advanced smartphones on the market. Indeed, we see this feature present, above all, in the flagships from manufacturers, as well as some more affordable models in early 2022.
As far as Apple is concerned, ProMotion technology was introduced in the summer of 2017. However, it was to be introduced with the second-generation iPad Pro and only more recently in more expensive models of its iPhone. It is also expected to continue in the next generation, the iPhone 14, which will arrive in September 2022.
This possibility comes with iOS 15.4
Still in beta, iOS 15.4 beta is aimed primarily at developers and users interested in trying out what’s new from the Cupertino giant. This version also brings more than 30 new emoticonsas well as the possibility of making payments through Face ID with a protective mask.
Currently, according to data advanced by Apple, 72% of all iPhones presented in the last four years already use iOS 15. Likewise, the latest stable version is already present in 63% of Apple phones.
Still, the adoption rate of iOS 15 is below expectations and that recorded with previous versions, something that has not gone unnoticed by the company. In fact, as we reported at 4gnews, there are many factors that contribute to increased resistance to the new version.
Finally, we recall the recent study that points to higher satisfaction with Android updates than with iOS updates, as recently exposed on 4gnews.
