Apple Foldable iPhone Rumors: Four Cameras, Touch ID, eSIM, 2026 Debut

The whispers about an Apple foldable phone are growing louder. For years, the tech world has wondered if and when the company would jump into this unique market. Now, fresh rumors suggest Apple is ready to make a big splash. They hint at a device packed with new ideas, but prepare your wallets; it might come with a hefty price tag.

What Makes This “iPhone Fold” Different?

According to tech analyst Mark Gurman, writing in his Power On newsletter for Bloomberg on August 24, 2025, Apple’s first foldable phone could have some truly stand-out features. This device, currently nicknamed the "iPhone Fold," is rumored to shake things up, starting with its cameras.

Unlike the Pro models, which usually sport three rear cameras, this foldable is said to have four. Two cameras would sit on the back, as you’d expect. But there would also be one on the outside screen for selfies when the phone is closed. Plus, another camera would be inside the main screen, ready for use when the phone is open. That’s a lot of ways to snap a photo!

Another big change is the rumored ditching of Face ID. Instead, Apple might bring back Touch ID for this model. The fingerprint sensor would be built right into the power button. Apple has used this design successfully in many iPad models, so it’s a familiar and effective solution.

Finally, following a trend that began in the United States in 2022, the iPhone Fold would likely be an eSIM-only device. This means it wouldn’t have a slot for a physical SIM card. Your mobile network connection would depend entirely on digital technology.

When Can We Expect It and What Will It Cost?

Gurman’s sources suggest Apple plans to launch this much-anticipated device next year. While there’s no firm date yet, the excitement is building.

The design is expected to be a "book" style, much like other foldable phones on the market. However, Apple aims for an inner screen with no visible crease. We’re talking about a main screen roughly 7.8 inches across, which is a bit bigger than an iPad mini. To make sure it lasts, the phone’s frame might even be made of tough titanium.

As for the price, early guesses put it around $2300. But more recent, realistic estimates suggest the iPhone Fold could land between $1800 and $2000. This premium price would reflect the advanced technology and new ideas packed inside.

It’s worth remembering that Apple hasn’t officially said anything about a foldable iPhone. Yet, the rising number of patents they’ve filed and the consistent reports from reliable sources tell a clear story. It seems like the "iPhone Fold" showing up in stores is simply a matter of time.
