Punjabi singer AP Dhillon has publicly criticized the Bollywood industry. He revealed his reasons for refusing to collaborate with filmmakers, citing concerns about artist exploitation.
Dhillon stated that Bollywood producers seek to take complete ownership of artists’ work. This includes tracks, remix rights, and all related proprietary elements.
He explained his decision during an interview on the SM TV YouTube channel. His primary motivation is to set a precedent for his community and other emerging artists.
The artist highlighted that he would gladly contribute songs if Bollywood changed its business practices. He refused offers until this fundamental issue is addressed.
Dhillon recounted an instance where major artists desired his music for a film. Despite creating the song and planning a scene, the producers insisted on retaining all rights.
He deemed these terms unacceptable and declined the opportunity. Dhillon emphasized that this practice could force junior artists to sell their hit songs, thereby losing significant income.
He aims to protect young talent from such exploitation. His refusal is a stand against a system he believes unfairly benefits producers at the expense of creators.
Meanwhile, AP Dhillon is preparing for his “One of One” India Tour in 2025. The tour will span several major cities across the country in December.
Performances are scheduled for December 5 in Ahmedabad, December 7 in Delhi, and December 12 in Ludhiana. He will also perform in Pune on December 14.
Further dates include Bengaluru on December 19 and Kolkata on December 21. The tour concludes with shows in Mumbai on December 26 and Jaipur on December 28.
