Director Anurag Kashyap, known for his distinct filmmaking style, recently opened up about a surprising career choice. He confirmed he has no plans to direct a biopic about cricket icon Virat Kohli. Kashyap shared his thoughts during a recent interview, also taking a moment to praise actress Alia Bhatt.
Kashyap was directly asked if he’d ever consider making a film based on Virat Kohli’s life. His answer was a firm “no.” He explained his reasoning to Filmygyaan, saying he wouldn’t tackle such a project. According to Kashyap, Kohli is already a hero to many, including countless children. He stated that if he were to make a biopic, he would choose a more “difficult” subject.
However, Kashyap was quick to express his admiration for Kohli. He described the cricketer as a “beautiful person.” Kashyap mentioned knowing him quite well, calling him “very authentic” and “very emotional.” In his eyes, Kohli is an “incredible person.” So, while no film is planned, the director clearly holds the sports star in high regard.
Beyond Kohli, Kashyap also shared his respect for actress Alia Bhatt. He praised her for living life entirely on her own terms. The director highlighted how women in Bollywood often face different expectations after marriage or becoming a mother. He believes Alia challenged these norms head-on.
Kashyap recounted how Alia essentially dismissed the industry’s outdated expectations. She chose to move forward and live life as she pleased, continuing her acting career. He noted that her choices have given courage to many others. She has shattered numerous old ideas, proving herself to be an “excellent actress.” He offered her a sincere salute for her achievements.
These insights from Anurag Kashyap came out as he promotes his upcoming film, ‘Nishanchi.’ The movie tells a story set in the 2000s. ‘Nishanchi’ also marks the acting debut of Aishwarya Thackeray, the grandson of Bal Thackeray. Aishwarya will be seen in a double role in the film. ‘Nishanchi’ is set to hit theaters on September 19.
