Bollywood actors Anupam Kher and Kajol Devgan are in for a treat. They’ll be honored with the prestigious Raj Kapoor Film Award by the Maharashtra government. Minister of Cultural Affairs, Ashish Shelar, made the announcement on Thursday.
Kher will receive the Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award, while Kajol will get the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award. The awards come with a cash prize – ₹10 lakh for Lifetime Achievement and ₹6 lakh for Special Contribution. Shelar also revealed that actor, director, and producer Mahesh Manjrekar will be awarded the Chhatrapati V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award, which includes ₹10 lakh cash, a trophy, a citation, and a silver medal.
More Honorees Announced
Actress Mukta Barve will receive the Chhatrapati V. Shantaram Special Contribution Award, consisting of ₹6 lakh cash, a trophy, a citation, and a silver medal. Veteran Marathi ghazal singer Bhimrao Panchale will be awarded the Lata Mangeshkar Sangeet Puraskar, established in 1993. This honor includes ₹10 lakh cash, a trophy, a citation, and a shawl.
Award Ceremony Details
The award ceremony is scheduled for April 25 at the NSCI Dome. Shelar said at a press conference, “These awards recognize artists who’ve contributed significantly to Indian cinema and music. It’s an honor for the government to celebrate their work.”
