Antony’s Manchester United stint didn’t quite pan out, but his loan move to Betis has been a breath of fresh air. The 25-year-old Brazilian international has scored four goals and provided five assists in 16 games for the Spanish side.

In a chat with ESPN, Antony opened up about his decision to leave Old Trafford during the winter transfer window. He credited Ruben Amorim, his former coach at Manchester United and now Betis boss, with being a top-notch tactician. “I didn’t work with Ruben Amorim for long, but he’s a great coach and very smart,” Antony said, explaining why he made the move.
The Brazilian winger also praised Amorim’s coaching abilities, despite their brief time together at Manchester United. “Manchester United is going through a tough patch, but Ruben Amorim is a good coach. We got along well, but I needed a new challenge. I wish him all the best for the rest of the season.”

Antony also had kind words for his former Manchester United coach, Erik Ten Hag. “I’m really grateful to Erik Ten Hag. He helped me a lot in the Netherlands and England, even when things didn’t go my way. It’s the coach’s decision, and I don’t hold any grudges. I’m thankful for everything he did for me and our conversations. He’s a coach who will be remembered because he helped me a lot.”
