Anthony Mackie confirmed to headline Captain America 4

It’s official: Anthony Mackie will replace Chris Evans in the fourth installment of Captain America.

The Falcon interpreter has reached an agreement with Marvel and Disney, revealed Deadline this August 18. Therefore, he will use the famous shield in a movie that is expected, at the earliest, in 2023.

Anthony Mackie’s confirmation is no surprise. The 42-year-old actor has played the Falcon, Captain America’s sidekick, since the release of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” in 2014. His character has replaced Captain America since the end of “Avengers: Endgame.”

His first steps in the skin of the superhero were also staged in the miniseries “Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, broadcast this year on Disney +.

Anthony Mackie prepares to carry a new movie on his shoulders today. For now, he is the only cast member to be confirmed: it is not yet known if Sebastian Stan, the interpreter of Bucky Barnes, will be there. Marvel has already announced that the film will be written by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, the writers of “Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”

For Anthony Mackie, the stakes are high. The first three parts of Captain America, later played by Chris Evans, had been a real success in the movies. All three had generated more than $ 2.2 billion at the global box office.
