Bangladeshi wicketkeeper batsman Liton Das has been banned from the Asian Cup due to virus fever and cannot join the team for the tournament. Right-handed batsman Anamul Haque Bijoy has now been called up as his replacement for the tournament. Liton is suffering from viral fever and the Shakib Al Hasan-led side will need to find a suitable replacement when Bangla Tigers take on defending champions Sri Lanka in their opening game on Thursday 31 August.

Bijoy, who primarily plays as an opening batsman or in the top three, played in 44 ODIs for Bangladesh and scored 1,254 runs including three Centurys. The batsman played his last ODI in December 2022 against India.
Great performance by Liton
The 2012 and 2018 season finalists will be in trouble as Liton has been one of their standout run-getters in the 50-over format of late. He has 878 runs in 25 innings since 2022 and is the team’s leading runs scorer at One Day Internationals. Bangladesh were placed in Group B along with six-time Asian Cup winners Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
