The singer, actor and director SD Rubel bought the nomination form to participate in the 12th parliamentary elections. He wants to fight for 8 Awami League seats in Dhaka.

Talking to Kal Kanth, he said that he bought the nomination form yesterday Monday and submitted it today.
The famous “Lal Benarashi” singer said, “Dhaka University, Shantinagar, Segun Bagicha, Paltan, Ramna and surrounding areas together have 8 seats in Dhaka.”

This seat is my home. That’s why I asked for a nomination here.”

When asked if he would be nominated, he said: “I want to say to the nation through you: I think the meaning of life lies only in being able to serve people along with music.” That’s why I feel that I have nothing else to ask if I can provide public service under the leadership of the People’s Leader Sheikh Hasina.

In fact, my desire to work in public service is paramount. I will do it if I get the chance.’

SD Rubel entered the world of music in the 1990s. His first solo album is titled Ashru.

His famous songs include Anek Bedna Bhara Amar A Jeevan, Lal Benarashi, etc. He is not only a singer but also a lyricist, composer, actor, director and producer. He has produced around 8-10 dramas and television films.
In an interview, he said that he has given his voice to around 1400 Bengali songs and also hundreds of film songs. He has also acted and produced films.

In 2018, Rubel was appointed as the co-editor of the Cultural Affairs Subcommittee of the Bangladesh Awami League.
