The Egyptian football scene just got a new splash of Angolan talent. Chico Banza, a 27-year-old winger, has officially joined Zamalek this Sunday. This move sees him leave Estrela da Amadora, where his time was short.
Banza only arrived at Estrela in January. The club paid Portimonense 800,000 euros for his transfer. However, the Angolan international found the net just once in 13 matches. It was a tough run for him in Portugal.
Now, a four-year contract awaits him in North Africa. Zamalek, often called ‘The White Castle’ by fans, clearly sees big potential. They are a big name in Egyptian football.
The Egyptian club rolled out the red carpet online. They shared a special video to announce his arrival. “Prepare for new magic in the footsteps of the legend,” their message read. Meanwhile, Estrela kept their farewell short and sweet. “Thank you, Chico Banza,” was their simple post on social media.
