Angola Beats Zambia 3-2, New Coach Beaumelle Secures First Win

Angola’s national football team secured its first victory under new French coach Patrice Beaumelle on Tuesday, defeating Zambia 3-2 in a friendly match as part of preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

The win in Luanda marked Beaumelle’s inaugural success since taking charge of the Angolan side, replacing Portuguese coach Pedro Gonçalves.

Despite the victory, the team displayed defensive vulnerabilities throughout the match.

Milson opened the scoring for Angola in the fifth minute, but a defensive error allowed Dominic Chanda to equalize for Zambia in the 21st minute.

Zito Luvumbo restored Angola’s lead in the 40th minute, ensuring a halftime advantage.

However, another defensive miscue in the 49th minute saw Given Kalusa draw Zambia level once more.

Mabululu ultimately sealed the 3-2 win for Angola with a goal in the 57th minute.

The friendly against Zambia concluded Angola’s training camp in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), which is scheduled to begin in Morocco in December 2025.

Earlier in the camp, Angola suffered a 2-0 defeat to Argentina in a friendly match played on Friday.
