Angelina Jolie takes to Instagram and defends Afghan refugees

Already strongly committed on the humanitarian level, especially in Africa, Angelina Jolie has opened an Instagram account to raise awareness among Internet users. For her first publication, the American actress published a letter aimed at defending the Afghan people against the Taliban.

In her commentary, Angelina Jolie explains that the photo highlights a letter she received from a teenage girl in Afghanistan. “At present, the Afghan people are losing the ability to communicate on social media and express themselves freely. So I came to Instagram to share the stories and voices of those around the world who are fighting for their fundamental rights, ”said the star who already has 5.3 million subscribers less than 24 hours after opened his Instagram account.

The 46-year-old actress is a goodwill ambassador for various NGOs and calls on her subscribers to join her. She explains: “I was at the border with Afghanistan, two weeks before September 11, where I met Afghan refugees who had fled the Taliban 20 years ago. (…) It is appalling to see Afghans dislodged once again, because of the fear and uncertainty that have invaded their country. Spending so much time and money, shedding blood and losing lives to get there, is a failure almost impossible to understand. “

Last June, the actress came to Mali to defend the cause of refugees from Burkina Faso.
