Ángel Delgado, Montero and Mendoza rejoin

For the qualifying window for the 2023 Basketball World Cup this weekend, the Dominican team will be “reinforced” with two players who have had NBA experience and another who has recently participated in the development league.

The Creole team (2-0) will face Canada (2-0) on the 26th and the Bahamas (0-2) on the following date in the second window of Group C on the American continent.

“At the latest by Thursday we will have the 12 who will be the members of the team, we have also invited four players to accompany them,” added López, who will be assisted by José Mercedes, David Díaz, Jonathan Matos, Ruddy Martínez and Luis Guzmán .

The Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal) had announced a call for 26 preselected, but the number has been lowered to 16 of which the final 12 will come out.

“In addition to the three mentioned, we will have the nucleus that has seen action in recent times with Víctor Liz, Gelvis Solano, Mike Torres, Eloy Vargas, Adonis Henríquez, Ángel Núñez, Andrés Feliz, Juan Guerrero, among others,” added the coach. .

He explained that due to the change in the protocols -before it was enough to be vaccinated and now daily tests will be carried out- and anticipating some setback, the announcement of the 12 will be delayed until the last moment. “We are very committed, with all our spirits and anxious for this qualifying window to begin,” said López, who is serving a second World Cup cycle as head coach.
