Google revamps the Android logo. The well-known green “little man”, the so-called Bugdroid, will be presented in 3D in the future. Google announced this in a blog post. In this context, Google let it be known that there are currently over three billion Android devices worldwide.

Google describes the new Bugdroid in flowery words as follows:
The Bugdroid – the face and most identifiable element of the Android robot – now appears with more dimension and a lot more character. As a visual sign of our brand, we wanted the Bugdroid to appear as dynamic as Android itself. We’ve also updated the robot’s full-body appearance to ensure it can easily transition between digital and real-world environments, making it a versatile and dependable companion across all channels, platforms and contexts.
Android’s new look is said to be inspired by “Material Design”. The android now looks fresher and more dynamic. In addition, it should now “reflect individual passions, personality and context”.
Also new: The “A” in the Android lettering is now always capitalized. So far, “android” was always next to the bug droid.

New function
In another blog post, Google also presents some new functions for Android. Android is getting an “Assistant at a Glance” widget to show users helpful information like “highly accurate weather alerts, dynamic travel updates and reminders of upcoming events on your home screen.” And exactly when you actually need it.
The new “Image Q&A on Lookout” aims to make visual content, such as pictures in group chats or photos in the camera app and on social media, more accessible for blind or partially sighted people. Because Image Q&A on Lookout uses AI to create more detailed descriptions of the media. After opening an image, you can tap or use your voice to ask follow-up questions and learn more about the image’s content, Google explains.
There are other improvements to Google Wallet, where you can now digitize passports with a barcode or QR code and save them to your Google Wallet. Android Auto, in turn, now supports Webex by Cisco and Zoom. You can therefore participate in conferences conducted using these tools on your car’s display.
