Andrés Torres was crowned champion in the men’s branch of the Norceca and Open Modern Pentathlon Championships, a contest that successfully takes place at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center facilities.
Torres, a native of Ecuador, reached a whopping 1,537 points in the final four competitions he participated in to top the overall score to Vicente Lima, from Argentina, who accumulated 1,528.
The winner finished first in the sword events in which he accumulated 254 points and in the equestrian event, in which he totaled 300, in addition to reaching a good second place in swimming, after achieving 304, and was eighth in laser run with 679.
On his side, Lima was first in swimming with 304 points, fifth in the remaining three lines, sword (245), equestrian (293) and laser run (685) respectively.
The third rung corresponded to Francisco Serrano, from Argentina, who accumulated 1,521 points in the four tests. Athletes from a dozen countries participate in the contest.
While this trio of pentathletes won the first three prizes, the two places granted by this competition for the Central American Games to be held in El Salvador next year went to Lorenzo Macías, from Mexico, who arrived in fourth place, after achieving 1,514 points and Andrés Fernández, from Guatemala, who finished fifth with 1,497.
On his side, the Dominican Gabriel Domínguez arrived in 17th place, after accumulating 1,429 points.
Torres dominates in sword
In the different lines, in Sword the first place went to Torres with 254 points, the second place corresponded to Serrano with 250 and Juan Velázquez, from Cuba was third with 250.
lime in swimming
On his side, Lima was first in swimming with 308 points, well followed by Torres, who had 304, and Fernández was third with 304.
Quadruple tie in Equestrian
This took place with the following competitors, Torres with 300 points, Víctor Aguiar, from Brazil, Juan Ochoa, from Guatemala and Lester Ders, from Cuba.

In this specialty, Fernández dominated with 698 points, the second went to Macías with 693 and the third to Marcos Rojas, from Cuba with 687.
The tests of the Norceca Championship and Open Modern Pentathlon will continue this Saturday with the mixed tests.
The event is organized by the International Union of Modern Pentathlon and the Dominican Federation of Modern Pentathlon.
