Cynthia Nixon, who is 59 years old, took to Instagram to express her feelings. She posted on Friday, August 1st, alongside a photo of herself with co-stars Kristin Davis and Sarah Jessica Parker. “I can’t believe our wild and beautiful adventure on ‘And Just Like That’ is about to end,” she wrote. “It has been a true delight from beginning to end.” Nixon, 59, shared that she will deeply miss working with her colleagues every day. But she added that they will always be part of each other’s lives. She even teased fans, promising many more photo “carousels” on social media. Nixon, Davis, and Parker, 60, were original cast members of ‘Sex and the City’. That iconic show ran from 1998 to 2004. It followed Carrie Bradshaw, played by Parker, through her love life in New York City. Her best friends Charlotte (Davis), Miranda Hobbes (Nixon), and Samantha (Kim Cattrall) were always by her side. After the show’s huge success, two ‘Sex and the City’ movies were released. Then, HBO Max brought the story back to life with ‘And Just Like That’ in December 2021. Kim Cattrall did not return for the new series, except for a short guest appearance.

Michael Patrick King, the creative director for ‘And Just Like That’, confirmed the series’ end on Friday. The show will not come back after its two-part Season 3 finale. King released a statement about the decision. “And so, the continuing story of the ‘Sex and the City’ universe comes to its end,” he stated. He realized it was a good time to stop while writing the last episode of Season 3. King, along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys, and Sarah Aubrey, made the choice to end the popular series this year. The original order for Season 3 was extended from 10 to 12 episodes, ending with a two-part finale.

Following this announcement, Sarah Jessica Parker paid tribute to her character, Carrie Bradshaw. Parker has played Carrie for almost three decades. She shared a heartfelt message on Instagram. “Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte, there will be no better friends,” she wrote. Parker felt lucky for Carrie’s new bonds with Seema and LTW, calling them “wonderful new connections.” She reflected on Carrie’s impact on her own career. “Carrie Bradshaw has marked my professional career for 27 years,” Parker stated. “I think I have loved her more than anyone.” She acknowledged the deep connection fans have with Carrie. “I know others have loved her as much as I have,” she said. Fans have felt frustration, judgment, and support for the character. Parker called this mix of emotions “the best soundtrack and the most meaningful company.” She closed her message with deep gratitude to all the fans.
