Anacona renews with Arkea and Bizkaia-Durango signs Alba Teruel

Colombian Winner Anacona (Tunja, Boyacá, 33 years old) said he felt “happy and motivated” after extending his contract with Arkéa-Samsic for one more season, so he will continue to try to help his compatriot Nairo Quintana in the main races on the calendar.

Anacona, winner of the stage of the Vuelta a España in 2014, the general stage in the Vuelta a San Juan in 2020 and the Andratx-Mirador des Colomer Trophy in Mallorca this season, will continue in the French squad one more year, after some questions about that possibility.

“Staying at Arkea is a great joy, especially because 2022 will be an important season for everyone, and also especially for me because it gives me the opportunity to continue my career in the professional field. I thank the sports directors and Emmanuel Hubert, general director, who have chosen me to renew my contract, “said the Boyacá cyclist.

Anacona’s goal will be to continue helping the team leaders and try to take advantage of any opportunity to expand their track record.

“My wish is to continue helping the Arkéa-Samsic team to grow, to reach new levels. I am happy, content and motivated for 2022. I feel good within the team, which welcomed me with open arms at the end of 2019. I have watched this formation grow for two years. I can’t wait for the 2022 season to start to continue supporting Arkéa-Samsic in his constant progression to the highest level. “

The Bizkaia-Durango sign Alba Teruel

The Bizkaia-Durango, UCI Continental category team, confirmed the signing of the Valencian Alba Teruel who arrives from Movistar and she becomes the thirteenth runner confirmed by the Basque squad for next season.

Teruel, 25, made his professional debut at Lointek (2015-2017) and the last four seasons he ran at Movistar. She is an “off-road cyclist with a predilection for fast arrivals, a parameter in which she fits in with the general trend of the Bizkaia-Durango squad for 2022”, highlights the team.

“For me it is a pleasure to return to racing in a Basque team. I am excited to race with old teammates and to meet the new ones and I will try to contribute everything I have learned these years in the peloton to help the team grow, “explains the Benigánim runner in statements released by her new team.

Teruel thus becomes the eighth incorporation of Bizkaia-Durango after the already announced of the Murcian Irene Méndez, the Valencian Sofía Rodríguez, the Catalan Iris Gómez, the Gipuzkoan Eukene Larrarte, the Chilean Olympian Catalina Soto, the Colombian Carolina Upegui and the Portuguese Beatriz Pereira.

In addition, the Asturian Lucía González, the Biscayan Irene Loizate and the German Aileen Schweikart have expanded their ties and the Portuguese Daniela Campos and the Mallorcan Marina Garau remain with a current contract.
