Ana María Orozco is back. She plays Beatriz Pinzón Solano again. This character is famous in Latin television.
The new season of ‘Betty la Fea’ has caused talk. Some fans are shocked. They are even disappointed. This Betty seems different. She is less sure of herself. She feels more vulnerable. She is still looking for her place.
Orozco gets why people react this way. She isn’t avoiding the chat. “Betty belongs to them in a way,” she said. This was in an exclusive chat with Us Weekly en Español. “The first show had a fairy tale ending. We wanted to move past that. We show what characters are like years later. It’s a new kind of show. That was the hard part.”
The 51-year-old Colombian actress says this isn’t a betrayal. It makes Betty more real. “I don’t think fans feel cheated,” she noted. “Some people will always complain. But deep down, we need to be open. Let yourself be surprised. It’s make-believe. There must be adventure. It needs to be fun. What else would we tell?”
What Does “Empowered” Really Mean?
Fans wonder if Betty was already “empowered.” Orozco thinks that word needs a look. “Betty changed outwardly too,” she said. “She fixed herself up. She dressed and spoke better. Then she was accepted. She thought that world was perfect. It’s good we look at this in the new Betty.”
Today’s Betty has lots of experience. But she still feels unsure. She questions if her life is what she wanted. “She has the tools and inner strength,” Orozco shared. “She can say, ‘Wait, what have I done? Have I lived the life I wanted?'”
Challenges on Every Side

In this second season, Betty must save the company. Her daughter is older and modern. Betty has to deal with changes around her. Even her friend Nicolás is married now. He married Patricia, ‘the Ugly Duckling’s Rival.’
Her bond with her daughter Mila is key. “They start a new stage,” Orozco explained. “Mila understands more now. She is very supportive. But she also stands up for herself.” This relationship mixes tender moments with a lot of humor.
Playing Betty again was tough. It meant emotional and story challenges. It was also intense to film. “Days are long,” she remembered. “But we have so much fun. I get along great with everyone. Being together is a party.” She laughed, saying some scenes needed retakes. Actors couldn’t stop laughing.
A Story That Still Speaks to Us
Betty la Fea remains popular. Orozco says this is because old questions are still unanswered. “We still question beauty,” she explained. “Also, women’s roles in society. And social classes. Some things change. But we don’t go deep into those changes.”
This blend keeps people watching. Betty shows weakness. She critiques society. There is also romance. “Betty’s true love is Armando,” Orozco stated. “Armando’s true love is Betty. Things must happen. This makes their love stronger.”
This new Betty shows her doubts. The themes are still fresh. Ana María Orozco asks viewers to join her. Even if it changes the perfect Betty in their minds. “I trust this story,” she said with a smile. “It’s very entertaining. All the debate is welcome.”
