Still focused on the Jerez tests, but Ana Carrasco is very aware of her future. There are many options on the table and none is ruled out. And, meanwhile, the rumors fly over the paddock of the Superbike World Championship. Perhaps heading to the Moto3 World Championship. The bomb was dropped by ‘Sky’ this past Tuesday, while the Spanish was preparing for three days of testing in Jerez, at the hands of a Kawasaki ZX-6R from the Orelac Verdnatura team. That is to say, a 600 much superior to the prototype with which it competed last year. All to put a little more certainty in his future, which is still up in the air. And it is that his name still does not come out among those enrolled in SSP or SSP300.
“I’m happy, I hadn’t driven a 600 for five or six years, and I have taken it as a first day after so long”, Carrasco explained to the WorldSBK microphones at the end of the first test day, with very good feelings on track. In fact, it was the first time he trained on a circuit great since the last appointment in Portimao, which served to “recover sensations and get a little feeling.” Ana assures that “it has been improving during the day”, finishing “better than we started” and with a second day ahead that she will be able to “take better advantage of” after a first contact.
However, the great expectation is in its future and, specifically, in the possibility of seeing the Spanish woman back in the Moto3 World Championship. In fact, their presence would once again mark the return of women to the highest motorcycling competition. But it is still early to give details. Of course, it does not rule out anything: “Honestly, I can’t tell you much. We are looking at many options, both 600 and 300, were the plans. New things have arrived, but nothing is 100% confirmed, at the moment we are looking. On the one hand, I am calm because I know that I will have a motorcycle wherever I am, that in the end that is peace of mind for any rider, whatever is decided, I hope it will be the best, I will try to do my best wherever I am”.
It will be a decision that will take time, but Ana Carrasco admits that if she leaves the WorldSBK paddock, she will do so with “sorrow”, leaving behind the family that gave her her first World Championship. “I haven’t thought about it yet,” he says. The Superbike paddock is my home, I think I am the rider that I am thanks to the Superbike World Championship”, settles the Spanish among many rumours.
