An indication of elections under a caretaker government in Pakistan

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has indicated that the country’s general elections will be held on time in October. In a televised address to the nation on Thursday, he said his government will collapse next month. The administration will be handed over to the caretaker government. Dawn’s news.

Parliament of Pakistan is bicameral. According to the constitution, general elections will be held every five years. The term of the current Parliament will end on August 13.

According to the Constitution of Pakistan, the lower house is elected for a term of five years. An ‘apolitical’ government with a mandate was installed before fresh elections. Elections were held under their supervision.

Shahbaz said, in April last year, as the Prime Minister, the nation gave me the sacred responsibility of running the country. According to the constitution, I will return this responsibility to the caretaker government in August 2023.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was elected Prime Minister in the elections held on 18 August 2018. Imran also could not complete the five-year term in keeping with Pakistan’s political tradition.
