According to Arab media, the National Center of Meteorology in Saudi Arabia has said that artificial rain has been tested in Taif, Baha and Abha during August and September as the three areas needed more rain than normal.
According to the report, 84 flights were made by four special planes in Taif, Baha and Abha and the duration of their flights was 316 hours.
Earlier, the first artificial rain in the kingdom was carried out in April this year in the capital Riyadh, in addition to Qasim and Hail areas.
It should be noted that Saudi Arabia signed an agreement with the American University of Wyoming for the first artificial rain experiment in 1990, and it was implemented in the same year, followed by Riyadh, Qasim, Hail, northwest and southwest of the kingdom. Artificial rain experiments were also conducted in the areas.
During the last decades, the pressure on water resources has increased due to population growth, industry, manufacturing, transportation, mining and agriculture sectors have expanded, the country needs 24 billion cubic meters of water annually.
