An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 shakes the center and north of Colombia

An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 with an epicenter in the south of the Caribbean department of Bolívar was felt this Wednesday in several Colombian departments without the authorities so far reporting fatalities or material damage.

The Colombian Geological Service (SGC) detailed that the epicenter was in the town of Santa Rosa, in southern Bolívar, at a depth of 52 kilometers.

The telluric movement was felt intensely in the departments of Bolívar, Antioquia, Cesar, Santander, Norte de Santander, Magdalena and Atlántico, although in a first sweep the local authorities have not reported any damage.

According to the SGC, the movement was "shallow depth" and it happened at 7:49 local time (12:49 GMT).

In social networks, people uploaded images in which the movement of lamps and hanging objects is seen.
