Actress Amrita Rao recently said that the late painter MF Husain had invited her and her mother to paint live in Dubai. However, I was thinking about the personalities of the ‘real’ Amrita and Amrita from the movie ‘Vivah’. Amrita Rao also revealed that Hussain had gifted her his ‘signature’ brush as well.
Amrita Rao greatly impressed MF Hussain with her performance in the 2006 film ‘Vivah’. Shahid Kapoor starred with him in the title role in this film directed by Sooraj Barjatya. A few years ago, Amrita Rao also shared a video in which MF Hussain made her paintings.

Speaking about MF Hussain during a recent interview, Amrita said: ‘Husain sahib had invited me and my mother as his guest in Dubai. He wanted me to paint live. On the last day of our trip, he confessed to my mother that he was initially hesitant to meet me in person. I was thinking that if the Amrita marriage doesn’t come true, she will be disappointed.
Amrita also said that after meeting him she had told him that “I have exceeded his expectations.” Amrita also said: ‘This is when she gave me her signed brush. He said, ‘Remember only 3 people in the world own it.’
Amrita said: ‘I remember when I first met Hussain Sahab, he came to meet us at Dubai airport, I saw him walking barefoot holding a long black brush, which he had taken with him. She used it as a signature. On the last day when she gave me that brush as a gift, I shuddered and tears welled up in my eyes.
MF Hussain once said that after Madhuri Dixit, Amrita Rao was the only face that moved her. Amrita had said about this: ‘It’s one of the best compliments.’
