Amitabh Bachchan Shares Poignant Tribute for Poet Father Harivansh Rai Bachchan

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan recently paid tribute to his father, renowned poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, on his birth anniversary. The Bollywood icon shared a heartfelt post on X, formerly Twitter, remembering the literary figure.

Amitabh Bachchan, known for his active presence on social media, marked the occasion by quoting lines from one of his father’s famous poems. The post included the poignant verse: “मिट्टी का तन, मस्ती का मन, क्षण भर जीवन, मेरा परिचय” (A body of clay, a mind of joy, a life of but a moment, that is my introduction).

Harivansh Rai Bachchan, born on November 27, 1907, was a prominent poet and writer in early 20th-century Hindi literature. He is widely celebrated for his iconic work, “Madhushala.”

He was the father of Amitabh Bachchan and grandfather to Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan. His wife, Teji Bachchan, was a noted social worker.

In 1976, Harivansh Rai Bachchan was honored with the Padma Bhushan for his significant contributions to Hindi literature. His poetic verses have also been featured in films, including the 1990 movie “Agneepath,” starring his son Amitabh, and its 2012 remake.
