Amitabh Bachchan fell asleep when he received a call from Smita Patil in the middle of the night during the shooting of Coolie.

It would be in 1982 when the film ‘Coolie’ was being shot in Bangalore, there is a midnight anecdote when Amitabh Bachchan, tired of filming, slept soundly in his hotel room. He suddenly the phone rang. Amitabh thought that after all, who calls him at night? Amitabh Bachchan picked up the phone and from the other end came the terrified voice of a woman who said: ‘Hello, Amitji? This is Smita Patil speaking from Bombay… I just want to know how you are.

Actually, I just had a nightmare where you got hurt! Are you okay?’ Smita was surprised by this question. Actually, before this, Smita and Amitabh Bachchan may have had some meetings and the two didn’t even know each other well, but in view of Smita’s concern for him, Amitabh accepted his gratitude.

He assured Smita that he was fine. Then Smita came to life and said: ‘It is the mercy of those above that you are well… Please take care of yourself!’ After talking with Smita, Amitabh went back to sleep. When morning came, as usual, Amitabh arrived early on the set of ‘Coolie’. It was July 26. Amitabh shot many dangerous action stunts on the sets, but while filming a minor stunt scene with Puneet Issar, he was injured so badly that it cost him his life.

In this way, Smita Patil’s thing came true, for which he had called Big B late at night. In reality, Amitabh’s small intestine was torn due to the stunt. For 63 days after this incident, Amitabh Bachchan had fought to the death and was also in a coma. He was finally released from Breach Candy Hospital on September 24, 1982.
