Amit Sial is currently seen in theatres in the film “Red 2”, playing a supporting role alongside Ajay Devgn. In a recent conversation with Amar Ujala, Sial shared his experience of working with Devgn and opened up about the late actor Irrfan Khan’s acting prowess and talent.
Sial was asked about working with Devgn, known for his powerful on-screen presence. He described Devgn as an “easy-going person” who is “very secure” and “comfortable to work with.” Sial praised Devgn’s preparation and professionalism, drawing parallels with his experience working with Akshay Kumar. He highlighted that working with big stars doesn’t intimidate him, as they are all “comfortable” and “well-prepared.”
The conversation turned to a recent interview with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, where he discussed the lack of opportunities for theatre actors in commercial cinema. Sial responded with a touch of sarcasm, suggesting that Siddiqui felt he should have been given lead roles, and that established stars should have played supporting roles instead. Sial questioned the term “character artist,” arguing that it’s an “intangible” concept where luck plays a significant role. He emphasized that talent and star power are not always equivalent.
Sial was then asked about Siddiqui’s tribute to the late Irrfan Khan, and whether he felt that Khan was given his due during his lifetime. Sial acknowledged Khan’s immense talent and international recognition, but attributed his success to a mix of factors, including his star power, the audience’s affection, and the type of films he made. Sial said, “If we call it ‘due,’ then we’re fighting against someone’s fate.” He added that he doesn’t believe in comparing one’s success to others, focusing instead on his own journey.
Reflecting on Irrfan Khan’s success, Sial said, “If I were to get what Irrfan Khan got, I’d be over the moon.” However, he emphasized that he doesn’t dwell on comparisons, believing that everything comes at its own time. He added, “I don’t think I’ve done anything extraordinary that would warrant early success. All these things come to you at the right time.”
