Actor Amit Chakalakkal is currently making headlines, but not for a new movie role. Customs officials recently paid an unexpected visit to his home, leaving with a haul of luxury cars. This surprise raid has stirred up quite a buzz, and the actor quickly stepped forward to clear the air.
Amit Chakalakkal stated on Wednesday that among all the vehicles seized, only one belonged to him. He was very clear that the other cars, which many assumed were his, actually belonged to different people. It seems his property was simply a parking spot for others’ fancy rides.
Speaking to the media in Kochi, Kerala, Amit shared more details. He revealed his personal vehicle is a 20-year-old, second-hand Land Cruiser, which he has driven for the last five years. He explained that his home also doubles as a workshop. People often bring their expensive cars to him for repairs or to get a fresh look. From the seven cars taken from his premises, he confirmed that just one was his own.

This wasn’t the first time Customs had questions for Amit. He mentioned that the department had summoned him last November about these very vehicles. At that time, he handed over all the necessary documents. After reviewing his paperwork, the agency didn’t take any further action.
He noted that when officials came for a new search yesterday, he again provided them with all the required documents. Amit is now awaiting their review of the papers. He appears confident that the situation will be understood once everything is examined.
It turns out Amit’s situation is part of a much larger story. On Tuesday, officers from the Customs Preventive Wing conducted raids across several locations in Kerala. Their goal was to find and seize high-end luxury vehicles believed to have been smuggled into the country from Bhutan. They searched about 30 places in total. These included the residences of well-known actors like Prithviraj Sukumaran and Dulquer Salmaan, as well as Amit Chakalakkal. In the end, a staggering 36 expensive luxury cars were confiscated during this wide-ranging operation.
