Amir Taliban appeared in public for the first time

KABUL: Taliban leader Mullah Habibullah Akhundzada has appeared in public for the first time.

The three-day jirga began Thursday in the Afghan capital, Kabul, and was attended by more than 3,000 clerics, political, social and business figures, according to the International News Agency.

Taliban leader Sheikh Habatullah Akhundzada also arrived in the capital Kabul for the first time from Kandahar and attended a national jirga. He addressed the jirga in Pashto, which was broadcast only on state radio. Mobile phones and cameras were turned off and no one was allowed to take pictures.

Defending the policies of the Afghan government, the Taliban leader said that the world should not tell us how to run Afghanistan, should not interfere in our affairs, it is never said why they do not do that, why they do not do that. We don’t need anyone’s advice, we know how to run Afghanistan, we have the right to implement a complete Islamic system in the country.

Insisting on Sharia law, he said that implementation of Sharia law is the only guarantee of a successful Islamic state.
