American media assure that the incident on the border with Canada was a “terrorist attack”.

According to several American media outlets, the vehicle that exploded a few hours ago on a bridge over the US-Canada border near Niagara Falls was a car bomb.

The news was broadcast by Fox News television and the initial report stated that the incident had left at least two people dead, according to the local press.

The Niagara Gazette notes that there are “two dead and one border guard slightly injured”; ABC also said there were “multiple victims.”

The Rainbow Bridge is now closed in both directions, just a day before Thanksgiving, a day of heavy vehicle traffic between both countries.

Canada’s Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc called the incident “very serious,” while there has been no official response from the U.S. government.
