American Idol Music Supervisor Robin Kaye, Husband Murdered in Encino Double Homicide

Hollywood is reeling from tragic news. Robin Kaye, a respected music supervisor known for her work on "American Idol," and her husband, musician Thomas Deluca, were found dead this week. Police are investigating their deaths as a double homicide.

Authorities discovered the couple inside their home in Encino, California, on Monday, July 14. Both victims were 70 years old. Officers arrived after receiving calls for a welfare check. Upon seeing blood near the front door, they broke a window to get inside, according to reports from TMZ. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to Us Weekly that two people, a man and a woman, were found deceased with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead right there at the scene.

So far, the reason behind this horrific crime remains a mystery. The police investigation is still active and ongoing. While officials have not yet formally identified the victims, TMZ was the first to report that Robin Kaye and Thomas Deluca were the individuals found.

A Loss to the Music World

Robin Kaye was a quiet but powerful force in the entertainment industry. She dedicated over ten years to the music department of "American Idol." Her resume also included other major television specials, like the Miss Universe pageant and the NAACP Image Awards, as listed on her IMDB page.

Back in 2017, while attending the Guild of Music Supervisors Awards in Hollywood, Kaye shared some thoughts on her job. "It’s one of those parts of the business people don’t even know exists," she explained at the time, as reported by the Daily Mail. "It’s a very important part of films and TV. Pretty much everything in the entertainment industry has music, and people just assume it’s there."

Thomas Deluca also had a rich history in the music world. He started his career in Nashville, where he signed his first publishing deal in his twenties, according to Melodic Rock Classics. He then moved to Los Angeles in the 1990s, when Epic Records signed him as a solo artist. In 2022, Deluca released an album titled Street Rock. He spoke about his recent work, saying, "These are songs that had special meaning to me at various points in my life, but I never thought they would see the light of day. I hope those who hear them enjoy them as much as I enjoyed writing and recording them."

A neighbor told KTLA that the house where the shooting happened is a rental property. This property reportedly once had some connection to the late rapper Juice WRLD.

As of now, the police have not released any information about possible suspects. The Los Angeles Police Department urges anyone with details about the case to come forward and contact them.
