The Ameal community in Coimbra is buzzing. They are getting ready for the second Ameal Half Marathon. The Ameal Recreational and Sports Association, known as ARDA, confirmed the plans this Tuesday. This popular event will happen on September 21.
Runners will start at 9:00 AM. They will finish their journey near the Sabores do Ameal Bakery. ARDA sees this race as more than just a competition. It is a way to bring life to the Ameal parish. It also promotes health and active living for everyone.
This year’s event offers several ways to participate. Serious runners can take on the Half Marathon, a full 21.1 kilometers. This longer race is certified and approved by World Athletics, making it a professional-grade course. For those wanting a shorter run, there is a 10-kilometer race. People who prefer a relaxed pace can join the 8-kilometer walk.

What makes this year truly special is its focus on inclusivity. This means the race is open to many different athletes. Wheelchair users are welcome to participate. People with visual disabilities can also join the fun. Athletes with intellectual disabilities are invited too. ARDA’s decision shows their strong belief in making sports open to everyone. It highlights a real commitment to including all in the joy of the game.
