AMD RX 9070 and 9070 XT Coming to Market in Early March Suddenly

PC players are eagerly waiting for new desktop graphics cards, but the current delivery situation is poor and demand is high. The recent launch of NVIDIA’s latest GPUs, the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, sold out worldwide immediately, despite their high prices. This has created a lot of anticipation for AMD’s new Radeon designs, particularly the RX 9070 and 9070 XT.

The company’s managing director has announced that these new graphics cards will be available “in early March”. Initially, it was only confirmed that the next generation Radeon cards would be launched in the first quarter, but a few weeks ago, AMD narrowed down the goal to March. After a recent press conference, it is now expected that the new Radeon GPUs will be available in the first half of March.

According to Dr. Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, “RDNA 4 delivers significantly better raytracing performance and supports AI-based upscaling technology, making 4K gaming accessible to the mainstream when the first GPUs of the Radeon 9070 series are on the market at the beginning of March”. The company also highlighted the good sales of desktop CPUs, such as the Ryzen 9 9800x3d, with a 58% increase in sales in the customer segment compared to last year. However, this is overshadowed by a decline in the gaming sector, where Nvidia currently dominates the GPU market on PCs and demand for current gen consoles is decreasing.

The next generation of Radeon cards could be a crucial moment for AMD, and the company plans to summarize the reports for the Ryzen CPU and Radeon GPU business areas in the future. For end-users, the RX 9070 and 9070 XT are expected to be an affordable alternative to the new Nvidia cards. Although not much is known about these new cards, they will be based on the new RDNA 4 architecture. The pricing of the graphics cards is difficult to predict without knowing more about the hardware inside, but AMD has positioned the new cards as a replacement for the RX 7900 XT, 7900 GRE, and 7800 XT, which had recommended retail prices of 1,049, 609, or 549 euros.
