AMD is reportedly currently working on its fastest graphics card based on the Big Navi 21 architecture, the Radeon RX 6900 XTX. According to the first information we have, it is faster than NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3090.
The leaker @CyberPunkCat shared on his Twitter account an image revealing a new yet unmarketed graphics card, allegedly named Radeon RX 6900 XTX. The slide states that the Radeon RX 6900 XTX offers FP32 performance up to 24.93 TFLOPs, an increase of about 8% over the regular Radeon RX 6900 XT.
The Radeon RX 6900 XT currently has two variants, a standard variant which includes a Navi 21 XT GPU and a binned variant including a Navi 21 XTXH GPU. The latter is particularly used in high-end cards such as the ASRock Radeon RX 6900 XT OC Formula or the Radeon RX 6900 XT Red Devil Ultimate from PowerColor. It is therefore expected that this new RX 6900 XTX uses Navi 21 XTXH architecture, which is the fastest of the bunch.

RX 6900 XTX reportedly faster than NVIDIA’s RTX 3090
The RT 6900 XTX would also see its memory increase compared to the classic model. This is because the regular Radeon RX 6900 XT has 16 Gbps GDDR6 memory, and the slide shows the new model with 18 Gbps memory. The Theoretical maximum bandwidth should therefore increase to 576 Gbps on the RX 6900 XTX, compared to 512 GB on the XT model. Therefore, the Radeon RX 6900 XTX offers 13% more throughput.
However, the specs on the slide match exactly those of the Radeon RX 6900 XT Liquid Cooled (LC) which is only available to PC makers. So it could really be a new card that is more powerful than the classic RX 6900 XT, or just an old slide referring to the LC card. A new benchmark wouldn’t really come at the right time, given that graphics card prices are currently skyrocketing.
As the RX 6900 XT already rivals the performance of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3090, we can expect this new graphics card to raise the bar even higher. However, NVIDIA is currently preparing its response, as it is reportedly working on a new RTX 3090 Super graphics card that promises to be a real power monster.
