Last month it was announced that the American cinema chain AMC Entertainment will accept bitcoin (BTC) for the payment of cinema tickets. The company’s CEO, Adam Aron, went the extra mile today by announcing that it will also accept a number of altcoins, including ethereum (ETH) and litecoin (LTC)!
AMC has had a pretty tough and volatile time. First, the coronavirus outbreak forced it to temporarily close all its theaters and cinemas. The largest cinema chain in the world then had to deal with a hugely volatile share price.
The same group that was behind the Gamestop (GME) pump also caused AMC’s shares to skyrocket. And that is not a bad development for the chain. Since then, the company has been trying to get off the ground by taking steps.
This is how it wants to start accepting bitcoin. Today, Aron announced that it also wants to add ethereum, litecoin and bitcoin cash (BCH) to this list:
Cryptocurrency enthusiasts: You probably know that AMC Theaters has announced that we will be accepting Bitcoin for online ticket payments by the end of 2021. I can confirm today that when we do that, we also expect to accept Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash in the same way.”

The tweet is positively received by many. However, we also find outrage here and there because AMC, for example, dogecoin (DOGE) not on the list has added. Nevertheless, it is a positive step for the adoption of crypto!
Litecoin and major announcements like this are a bit sensitive this week. A few days ago, the news came out that Litecoin and the large American Walmart would be working together. This turned out to be untrue, despite Reuters, CNBC and even the Litecoin Foundation themselves appearing to confirm the news.
